Good stuff. Glad to be on the journey with you. Drop a line when you make it through Dallas again. Interesting developments along the same vain of your thoughts, though outside the "church" walls.

Thanks Jason. It's been some time since I've picked up Acts of Faith, but as I remember, there are some good concepts from it. I'll re-visit the cycles of institutionalization soon.

This research is work from my dissertation and so there will be a series of academic research articles that I'll write for journals. As far as a longer treatment suitable for a wider audience, I haven't really considered that yet. I just defended the dissertation last month, but hopefully there will be a way to share longer and more detailed sections in the future. That sort of depends on interest, though. If is seems like people want to keep reading about this, then I'll pursue some other (i.e., non-blog) publishing methods.

Also, thanks for the copyedits. I've noted the corrections for the future.

Josh,

This is a great path to go down. I assume you are well aware of Stark/Finke's Acts of Faith. Some of your theses reminded me of the cycles of institutionalization that they talk about in that book.

Thanks for sharing. I'm very very interested in this research and where you go with it -- do you have plans to publish any kind of extensive paper, or do more of the same research to extend your data, or what?
